The journey of a plant lady....

When I was a kid, my dad would leave a note with a list of chores for me to complete once I got home from school: dust the furniture, empty the dishwasher, vacuum the carpet, water the plants, start dinner, etc. By far, my favorite chore was watering our houseplants. I was never given any instruction except “water,” and yet somehow I figured it out. Our plants thrived, and I was hooked!

When I went to college, I started collecting my own houseplants to embellish my apartment. I learned to propagate my plants so I could brighten empty corners and adorn boring shelves on a tight budget.

I practiced law for many years and always had houseplants in my office. I began sharing plants with colleagues, friends, and family. (I am now a "recovering lawyer.")

It had been a longtime dream of mine to open a plant shop and to share my love of houseplants with others. In 2026, I realized my dream by opening Thrive Houseplants in Murrysville PA. My heartfelt desire is to enable other people to enjoy plants as much as I do by providing beautiful houseplants, accessories, home decor, and fun workshops.

Over the years, it has surprised me how many people I have met who said something like "I love the way houseplants look, but I don't have a green thumb" or "I just kill plants." If you feel this way, I assure you that my thumb is flesh colored and that I would love to help you learn how to care for houseplants.  It's easier than you think and so rewarding! If you are already a plant person, your newest plant friend is waiting for you at Thrive Houseplants.

I genuinely look forward to meeting you when you come into the shop!
